COT is sponsoring two sessions at IAVCEI 2023 Scientific Assembly (Jan 29th to Feb 3rd) with a great line up of oral and poster presentations (the programme is now available https://confer.eventsair.com/iavcei2023/programme)
Tephrochronology: new methods and applications for chronostratigraphy and beyond on Mon. Jan 30 from 14:30-16:35 in Room 3 (Arena 3A), posters to follow at 16:35
Constraining the tempo and magnitude of past highly explosive volcanism using tephrochronology: implications for volcanic hazard assessments on Thurs. Feb 2 from 14:30-15:30 in Room 1 (Arena 1), posters to follow at 16:35
We will also be having our COT business meeting on Thursday Feb 2 starting around 17:45/18:00 pm in Room 8 (Downer) to make sure everyone has time to look at the posters. We will be providing a zoom link for those unable to attend in person.
More details and an agenda will be circulated closer to the date but it will generally be an update on COT activities past and present, the announcement of the new executive, the launch of our logo contest, and some discussion on our next COT meeting tentatively scheduled for September 2024 in Sicily – concise!
We will follow this with a dinner at a restaurant TBD around 19:30 pm, more details on that to follow as well.
